GO! Book Buddy 2017-2018 (Johnson Elementary)

October 2nd - May 1st, 2018

What: Serve as a Book Buddy to a 2nd and 3rd Grade Males at Johnson Elementary.

Who: Adults and older students are welcome. Must have availability to meet during school hours (8:00am - 1:30pm).

When: Meet with a student 25-30 minutes a week. Time is flexible. You can meet with your student any time during school hours.

Program Dates: October 2017 - May 2018

Training Date: September 24, 2017

Mentor: We will not continue our weekly Mentor program this year. All those interested in Mentoring their student from the previous year(s) are asked to take a couple times a semester to meet with the student to check in and encourage. Our Mentor program has grown so big that we are pulling too many of Johnson's 4th & 5th graders out of their classrooms each week.

GO! Local - We Will Go Service Day

Broadmoor partners with We Will Go Ministries, a community ministry located in downtown Jackson just north of the state capitol. We Will Go has over 20 missionaries who live in this downtown community.

Each Saturday We Will Go hosts volunteers to provide labor for various needs around campus. Potential volunteer projects include property cleanup, gardening, food pantry, clothing closet, demo work, and more. Volunteers will receive an email as the serve day approaches listing suggested items to bring to the serve day.

Go! Local - City Church Service Day

Broadmoor partners with City Church, a church plant started by Luke and April Epperson. City Church, located in the old Westview Baptist Church in South Jackson, seeks to evangelize and disciple neighborhoods and apartment communities in South and West Jackson.

City Church's building needs updating. Their youth group is growing but they do not have rooms ready for the youth to use. We will help City Church renovate their youth floor.

Wear clothes for painting and cleaning.

WHO: Families, singles, and college students can join us. Those who serve in the Worship Arts and Media Ministries will have training opportunities.

WHAT: Starting in 2017, Broadmoor is partnered with The Cellar Church in Ellesmere, England. TCC first met in an old wine cellar (hence the name) in March 2014 with just a few attenders. In the past four years, the church has grown to over 70 regular attenders, as well as nearly 20 children! The church's aim is to see their congregation and community come to know the life-changing message of Jesus Christ through the clear communication of His Gospel.

WHERE: Ellesmere is a small town of 4,000 and is set in the English countryside near the border of Wales. The Cellar Church currently meets each Sunday in Ellesmere's Town Hall near the center of town.

HOW: Broadmoor will help to develop TCC's Worship, Media, Student, and Life Group ministries. Our teams will also have opportunities to further TCC's reach into their community by visiting local schools and taking part in community outreach events.

WHO: Adults, groups of college students, and friends of friends can join us. Team members should be able to manage a steep mountain hike and a strenuous work project daily.

WHAT: Broadmoor partners in Haiti with But God Ministries (BGM), founded by Broadmoor member Stan Buckley. BGM builds sustainable communities, including a medical/dental clinic, more than 40 houses, churches, water wells, an orphanage, and dorms for visiting teams, all for the sake of leading the lost to Jesus. Sleeping conditions are private, safe, and secure. The food is similar to New Orleans creole.

WHERE: BGM has two communities, one in Galette Chambon approximately 18 miles east of the Port-au-Prince airport, and another in Thoman, 35 miles from the airport. This trip is to Thoman.

HOW: This team will be working daily on water lines on a steep mountain. The hike up the mountain can be very strenuous, and the planned tasks will involve significant physical labor.

Super Summer is for students who will complete the 8th Grade thru 12th Grade at the end of this school year 2017-2018. It is a discipleship/evangelism leadership conference designed to provide qualitative spiritual growth and help develop student leadership in Mississippi churches. Utilizing a camp setting, for 30 years, Super Summer has challenged students to learn how to penetrate their culture for Christ. Super Summer is designed for students who personally have a desire to grow spiritually. Students come to Super Summer knowing that they will be challenged not only to grow, but to actively share their faith with others. In order to attend Super Summer, there are a number of requirements you have to complete.

WHAT: Broadmoor partners with several church plants in North America, one of those being Canvas Church in Victoria, British Columbia. Pastor Ashley Austin and his family moved to Victoria in 2013, quickly building relationships and sharing the Gospel. At Canvas Church, their aim is to be a community to help people discover their place in the story, family, and mission of God.

WHERE: Located in the beautiful Provincial Capitol of British Columbia, Victoria boasts a population of 2.3 million people. However, the stark reality is that there exists 1 Canadian National Baptist Church for every 35,690 metro Vancouver residents. Of the entire Vancouver population, 41% claim no religion while only 3% claim to be Evangelical Christians. Broadmoor is committed to partnering with Canvas Church to reach Victoria for Christ.

HOW: The primary purpose of this trip is to conduct a soccer camp for school-age kids in the community. The long-term goal is to minister to kids through camps, build relationships with their families, and ultimately share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Word Bible Presentation-August 5, 2018

Parent/Child Dedication-December 2, 2018

The first milestone of Broadmoor's Faith at Home is the dedication of our parents and children to the Lord and His commands. Parents usually choose one of the two Sunday morning services to dedicate their child(ren), and walk through a time of training and fellowship with other parents in similar roles as they learn what it means to commit oneself to raising a child in a Biblical context.

It is expected that parents will attend the parenting class on October 14, 2018 at 9:15AM in the Chapel.

All parents are also invited to a Coffee/Dessert Meeting on November 7, 2018 at 6:15pm in the Venue.

Childcare will be provided for both events in the Greenhouse.
